The Atlanta 2 is a safe, comfortable chair designed to provide dignity for people at risk of falling, sliding or injuring themselves.
The Atlanta 2 can accommodate people who are challenging to seat and is often used for those with Huntington’s Disease, late-stage dementia or in a palliative care setting. The chair is low to the ground and highly stable, meaning it will not tip due to vigorous involuntary movements or impulsive behaviours. It is well padded and has no areas of entrapment, helping to reduce risk to the user.
The Atlanta 2’s integrated tilt and recline position the person deep into the chair, helping to reduce sliding. The deep seat position provides a soothing and reassuring environment to promote calm and relaxation. The high armrests help support those who tire easily or have difficulty maintaining an upright posture.
The angle-adjustable leg rest can be positioned to elevate the feet above the user’s hips, helping those with swelling in their legs.
Accredited with a Class 1A rating from the Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) at the University of Stirling, the Atlanta 2 therapeutic chair has been clinically designed for patients with dementia to help prevent slips and falls. Its cocoon-like design provides sensory feedback across the body, helping users feel safe, secure and supported.

Sliding Footplate Only: This solution is cost-effective, robust and durable, making it ideal for transporting individuals.
Sliding Footplate & Elevating Foot Stool: The elevating footstool enhances comfort and support, promoting a deep-seated, relaxed posture that can help reduce agitation. It has proven highly effective for individuals with neurological conditions such as Huntington’s disease.
Calf Pad & Height Adjustable Footplate: This design fully redistributes weight and pressure, enabling clients to tilt and recline completely without fully elevating their legs, while its negative angle feature accommodates tight hamstrings.
The Atlanta 2 is an upgraded version of the previous Seating Matters Atlanta chair. Seating Matters will continue to service and support all Atlanta chairs still in use.
