Designed and tested by occupational therapists, Seating Matters’ chairs have been clinically proven to reduce pressure injuries, prevent falls, provide comfort and pain relief, reduce the cost of care, and improve overall quality of life.
All of our chairs are researched, designed, and tested by occupational therapists, led by our Founder & Global Clinical Director, Martina Tierney. A world-renowned occupational therapist, Martina has dedicated her career to creating innovative solutions in the healthcare industry and improving the lives of patients.

It all started back in 2008 when, continually frustrated by the chairs that her patients were using and the lack of developments in clinical seating, Martina Tierney designed her very first Seating Matters chair.
Today, our dedicated Seating Matters R&D and Clinical teams continue to drive for advancements and excellence, developing new lines to meet new needs, and working full-time under the leadership of Martina.
Our mission is to share this research and information with occupational therapists and healthcare providers across the world. For this reason, we offer best-in-class training, in-person assessments and educational resources, alongside our clinical seating range.
