Bariatric Seating: It’s Not Just A Wider Chair
1-hour CPD verification

Where do I start with a bariatric seating assessment? How do I know if the chair is actually the right size and shape for my client? Why is my client sliding, leaning or struggling to reposition? How do I balance pressure care, posture, comfort and function?

In this practical 1-hour session for OTs and clinicians, we’ll explore the unique challenges of bariatric seating and what you really need to consider beyond seat width. Using the Four Principles of Clinical Seating and real-world case studies, you’ll learn what to assess, what to look out for and how to translate your findings into a more appropriate bariatric seating solution.

Leave with a practical framework you can use in your next bariatric seating assessment.

It’s more than a chair; it’s peace of mind.

Many individuals living with dementia spend long periods of time in inadequate seating – seating than can leave them feeling disoriented, agitated, and distressed. Clinically designed therapeutic seating provides a sense of security while reducing the risk of slips and falls. Its cocoon-like design delivers gentle sensory feedback across the body, helping individuals feel safe, supported, and at ease.

In this session, we’ll explore how dementia-friendly seating solutions enhance comfort, promote postural support, and improve overall wellbeing. We’ll also demonstrate the Four Principles of Clinical Seating and share case studies highlighting the benefits of alternative seating solutions for individuals with dementia.

This specialised session explores the causes and best practices for pressure injury prevention.

Pressure injuries, also known as pressure ulcers, are a significant health concern, particularly for individuals with limited mobility. These injuries occur when prolonged pressure on the skin reduces blood flow, leading to tissue damage. Pressure injuries most frequently impact the elderly population and those with long-term disabilities, who tend to spend long periods of time sitting.

In this session, we will examine the underlying causes of pressure injuries and explore best practice guidelines for prevention.

We will also introduce the Four Principles of Clinical Seating and illustrate the benefits of alternative seating solutions through real-world case studies.
